When I close my eyes, my mental images of
Mary Matheny are the same way I
remember dreams or songs or butterflies
in nature -they make me FEEL something. Never has a person come into my life and had such a profound effect on me. I know I’m not alone, because in the last three years
I’ve had the privilege to know her, I have watched her spread her magic, positivity and love over nearly every person she’s come into contact with. In short: Mary Matheny is sunshine and the world needs Vitamin D.
In order to put it into perspective, the best
example I can come up with for Mary’s
situation is David and Goliath. Everyone
loves a good underdog story; they typically
make us feel good about the tenacity of the
human spirit. When I stop and realize that
Mary has metaphorically been fighting the
Goliath that is cancer, nonstop, and for over 3 years now? There’s no “feel good” left in
there for me anymore. Switching up the
variables turns it into a horror story.
This is what Mary Matheny wakes up to
every single day. She is tired, she is sore,
and she is running out of resources. But
she’d never let you know it. You won’t hear her complain because she’s grateful to
wake up, period.
We decided to start this GoFundMe
Fundraiser  for her because it never hurts
to ask, right? This has been created to help  get Mary to Florida for a medical
procedure at the hands of one of
the nation’s leading pioneers of IRE
(nanoknife) technology.
The cost of 3 years spent fighting cancer
produces more zeros in a bottom line than I
care to comprehend. Mary would never ask
any one of us for help or money. Which is
why Courtney and I are doing it for her. Her
surgery is scheduled for January 17th in
Hollywood, Florida. A second trip back
approximately 4wks later for radiation and
follow up treatment is also necessary.
From the bottom of my heart, I hope my
words have inspired you to donate today.
That you’ll do for Mary what you know she
would do for you. I can’t think of anyone in
my life that deserves the assuredness and
sense of security that good health brings with it more than she does. Together we can
help give her a promise for the future.
Do your best to #LoveLikeMary. Get her to
Florida for this life saving procedure and
help her continue to make the world a
better place. I promise you won’t regret it. - Whitney
