Help Jammar battle Leukemia.

Jammar I. Griffin

Jammar was an active 11 year old, popular with his friends and teachers in school, and Vice President of the 6th Grade Class. About a year ago, shortly before Christmas, he had felt some stiffness in his neck and while on a school field trip the nurse noticed some lumps there. Jammar was diagnosed with a form of leukemia on December 9, 2015. His world was suddenly turned upside down.

The leukemia was determined to be curable, and prospects for complete recovery were very good. But the path to that recovery has been very difficult, with a number of setbacks along the way. The severe stress to Jammar’s body from the toxic chemotherapy treatment has compromised his immune system and brought on serious side effects.

Jammar has been in the hospital numerous times. During a recent hospital stay for a spiking fever, he picked up a very dangerous fungus infection that has been very difficult to diagnose and treat. The highly toxic antifungal drugs, combined with the chemotherapy regimen that was already underway, resulted in additional complications that have necessitated yet another extended stay in the hospital.

Jammar has set a proud example for everyone he has touched in his young life.  He has courageously endured tremendous emotional and physical stress throughout this fight to overcome this awful disease. That battle is not over, though the path to recovery has put a severe strain on his immediate family. It will continue until it has been won!
