After losing my 13 yr old golden to a hard fought fight against a brain tumor, I waited a bit and decided to rescue my new fur baby. I wanted to share my love and save a fur baby that could bring someone so much joy given the chance. Unfortunately, my new fur baby, Halo, was not active as puppies are. I could see the energy and playful love, but she was very restrictive with her movements. I took Halo to an orthopedic surgeon. It was concerning enough for her age to be sent to the lovely experts at Texas A&M small animal hospital. After being evaluated, Halo will need 5 surgeries. I was told it was that or medicate her for pain for a year or two before making the unthinkable decision to let her go. Her growth plates on her rear legs were damaged and have not allowed bone growth to happen normally. Aside from the heartbreaking, regular dislocations that happen every few days to daily at times; it has also caused orthopedic development to result in many secondary issues. These orthopedic issues are causing a need for her two elbows to be helped by having a minor surgery removing bone chips that cause pain. This should give her needed strength for her two major ankle surgeries, where metal plates will be placed for stability on the inside of her ankles. Then a total hip replacement on one side should complete this undertaking. Then Halo should be blessed with the ability for a normal puppy life. The surgeries alone will cost $19,000. This does not include the therapy prior to surgery or following them. I am looking for fellow animal lovers that share my passion and can help this fur parent save her angel baby, Halo.
