Hi all!
My name is Diane Pizzariello and I am a friend of the Deifel family. Those of you that know and love this family know of the struggles they have encountered the past few years, one of which is James' deteriorating health due to his failing kidneys. The family has been stressed with James’ long wait on the transplant list, knowing that their provider/husband/dad’s health has been declining. Some may not even have realized how difficult this has been for the family as regardless of their struggles; they continued to lend a helping hand to others in need.
The day has finally come and James’ is going in for surgery on Wednesday, January 6th along with Claudia who is donating her kidney to another family in need. This program is called a paired exchange and has been coordinated with a total of 10 people, all receiving or giving a kidney to help the ones they love.
I am calling on all friends, family and co-workers who want to do a little something to help out this family. Their brave faces have masked the depths of their pain for the benefit of their children. Now it is time for us to come to their aide as they have for us so many times before.
Your donations will help with the extra expenses the Deifels will incur in the coming months as they begin to heal physically and emotionally from this ordeal. Given that both parents are undergoing surgery there are many ways in which this money can be used to help including but not limited:
- James will need to go to the hospital a minimum of 2x per week to ensure the new kidney is not rejected. They will incur Manhattan hospital parking fees for each of these visits
- Additional medical expenses and copays
- Ordering food
- House cleaning services
Anything you can do to help would mean so much given all they do for others. I know the Deifels would be extremely grateful knowing we all were there to help them in their time of need. For me, I couldn’t be happier trying to help out a family that has shown fearlessness. Now it is their time to lean on us. Thanks for reading and Happy New Year!
