This past Saturday night (20-2-2016) about 8:30pm, our dear little Ras Omar Scott (a well-known and beloved taxi driver in Negril for many years) was hit while walking on the road in Sheffield by a speeding biker. The biker initially left the scene, returned and a taxi driver stopped to transport Omar to the Sav Hospital (currently public ambulance service is not available in Negril and surrounding communities).
In spite of the severity of the accident, Jah continues to bless Omar! Currently, his known injuries consist of broken bones in his left leg and knee, head injuries, bruises and he continues to be in considerable pain.
Doctors are requiring 2 MRI’s (leg/knee and head) in order to accurately diagnose injuries, ensure proper treatment, PT and recovery time.
This is where your help is needed -- the approximate cost of the MRI’s is $52,000jad. Omar, like many other Jamaicans, especially taxi drivers, do not have insurance and do not have this amount of money in their pockets. Our goal of $700usd, would cover the MRI’s and help to cover additional medical/recovery expenses Omar might incur. Omar will remain in hospital until the MRI’s are completed. Presently, they are scheduled for March 3rd. These tests are performed on a Cash Only Basis – so, no money, no tests for Omar.
