Love for Lulu

Lucy "Lulu" Ramsey was born with a one in a million birth defect called Bilateral Tibial Hemimelia. She is missing both of her tibias. She was adopted by the Ramsey Family from China and brought home to Pennsylvania in August 2015. They started taking Lulu to see specialists at several local Children's Hospitals who all recommended a double amputation. They found the world's leading specialist in this particular birth defect. Dr. Dror Paley is based in Florida at The Paley Institute and he has been seeing Lulu since October. The plan is to have a complex reconstructive surgery on her one leg. Further testing and diagnostics will determine if the other leg needs to be amputated or can also be reconstructed. If amputation is the only way, then Lulu will be fit for a prosthetic leg in Florida as well.

The surgery plans are set. This will require Lulu and her mom, Julie, to move to Florida for a minimum of three to four months. The rest of the family (father, two sons, and one daughter) will be staying home during that time but hope to travel to Florida to visit and support their mom and sister as much as they can. After those months, the family will need to travel from Pennsylvania to Florida every two weeks for follow up appointments. Since all of these expenses will be out-of-network we are trying to help the family with the cost of the procedure, the doctor visits, and living expenses during this very important time.

This wonderful family has opened their hearts to not one, but two adopted children with special needs. We hope to help in any way we can.
