Lu has been through quite a bit in her life! In 1988, just a year after she had her daughter Katie she found our she had breast cancer, and had a double mastectomy. In the years to follow she was diagnosed with bladder cancer 5 different times. Luckily the bladder cancer was easy to treat and we were able to beat it each time. She had been cancer free for about 5 months when we found out that she had a spot on her lung that the doctors wanted to look in to. After multiple tests and a CIT scan the doctors decided mom would need surgery to remove the lower lobe of her lung. Once they were in for surgery the doctor found that the cancer had moved in to a lymph node that was very close to the heart, and because of the location, and arteries in the way, they were not able to remove it. They also decided not to take the lower lobe because moms only option now would be chemo and radiation, and they wanted her lungs to be as strong as possible for that. At that time she was diagnosed with stage 3a lung cancer. Moms first treatment is January 14th. The doctors told us that the treatments only have a 25-35% chance of working...but they are very hopeful that they can help to keep it at bay. Mom prays many times everyday. She knows that God is helping her through this all and that, no matter what the outcome, God has a plan, and she trusts Him with all her heart.

Mom has been unable to work...so Dad has been working relentlessly to try and keep up with the medical bills, but the surgery, appointments and treatments have all slowley added up. They have never asked for help with any of her other cancer bouts but lung cancer has proven to be more of a battle for them, emotionally, physically, and financially.

More than anything I just want my mom and dad to feel comfortable. I want dad to be able to take a day off of work to be with mom and not worry about getting behind on bills. I want them to not have to choose between paying a medical bill or paying for a trip to the grocery store. So any sort of donation is not only appreciated but its lifting my family up, and getting them through a really sad and hard time.

Also, we appreciate all your prayers and well wishes. Mom loves to hear words of encouragement. Your phone calls and messages mean more to her than you could imagine! We absolutely could not get through this without our family and friends. Mom is a fighter- and we fully intend to kick cancer in the butt :)
