Love for Colin

Let's support Rose in staying home to care for her sweet little boy Colin!! Here is Rose's story:

"Ok, so here's our story : I was at work on November 4th, I got a call from Mike in the morning around 1030 saying that the paramedics were at the house for Colin because he had a seizure. We stayed in the hospital one night & went home the next morning at 10. He had another seizure at 2 and had to be taken back to the hospital by ambulance. He was admitted again. He had another seizure that night at 9 & was then transferred to the IWK. While in the IWK he had an EEG done to see his brain waves & continued to have seizures. He ended up having norovirus & adenovirus, so they assumed that was what caused the seizures & that it wouldn't likely happen again. After 3 days we were transferred back to the IWK. He was in hospital for a week. I went off work on sick leave to take care of Colin at that time. After Colins viruses cleared up he continued to have seizures, which meant many more trips to the IWK for EEG's & an MRI. He was diagnosed with Epilepsy. Our hearts broke. The first medication Colin was put on did not work. We kept increasing it, but it didn't help. Finally we got to the maximum safe dose he could have of that & it still didn't work. We had to make the decision to switch him to a new medications which had some scary side effects, like haemorrhaging, pancreatic problems & fatal liver disease. So far this new medication isn't working either. We are all walking on egg shells, so nervous & scared. Never knowing when he's going to suddenly be in a full out seizure. He has grand mal seizures, which are full out body convulsions. It's absolutely awful & heart breaking watching him. And the whole time it's happening, I'm praying for it to stop. He has to be on his side because he gets very mucousy during his seizures and sometimes needs his mouth suctioned out. He needs to sleep with me because he also has seizures while he sleeps, I need to be with him in case it happens. My EI runs out in 2 weeks & EI told me that there is no other money I can receive to stay home with him. I can't leave him when his meds aren't even working! He's my baby and there should be funding out there for situations like this, it's really sad that there's none. I don't know what else to do. I am heartbroken. I can't leave my baby. He needs his mom, & I should be able to by his side. I can't leave him for almost 13hrs at a time!!!
We also have 3 other boys who are amazing children but are having an emotionally hard time with what's happening and need my support too!!"
