When a bullet hits your dog.

Animal lovers, this one is going to get you in the feelers. My dear friend Liza is one of the sweetest and kindest people I know, and one of the biggest animal lovers out there. The majority of her life has been spent working and helping animals, and people, in various capacities. Liza has a special “pet family”, which in itself displays what kind of person she is. They are all rescues, two from “death row”, one with severe physical limitations, but all so loved, and perfectly placed in Liza’s care.
Now, this animal lover and wonderful woman needs to relocate because of a stray bullet hitting her pup, Cleo and she needs YOUR help to get a new place because she wants to be safe and keep her animals safe. So, please take the time to read this bio and donate or share so she and her furry children can get out of the motel they are currently living in! NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO LIVE IN A MOTEL DURING THE HOLIDAYS!
They of course, deserve a special introduction: First is Cleo, her beloved, shy Ausssie mix. Recently Liza met with an animal communicator who told Liza Cleo’s job was to absorb her pain for her. A true protector of Liza’s heart. Max, the dumb but lovable Lab/Pit mix, who has a deformity with his legs who his foster-mom turned adopted mom, Liza, has been helping with (you can learn more about Max’s journey through the FaceBook Page: Lucas and Max: the Journey of 2 Rescue Dogs). Max’s big brother Buster, the fiery Chihuahua that is fiercely protective of his mom and clan. Of course once you give him a treat, he will be your best friend. And last but not least, Winnie the cat, a friendly and lovable, and very vocal Calico.

Liza has recently relocated from Boulder, CO to the Western Slope of Colorado, to start a new life.

Just three weeks living in new home, Liza was with her dogs and cat having a cozy Sunday evening, when suddenly, Liza finds herself being forced to deal with an unthinkable trauma.
Liza was on her computer after her and her pups and cat had dinner; her dogs were laying about snuggling up a storm and Winnie was in her favorite spot in the closet. Out of nowhere, there was a very LOUD and SUDDEN POP! Immediately, dear Cleo (pictured) jumped up, wailing and running scared, with a huge trail of blood to follow. Liza ran after her to find she was badly wounded in her leg, but puzzled as to what it could have been?! Liza went back to the room where Cleo was, and saw there was a hole in the wall; then she realized, much to her dismay and disbelief, her dog had been shot, through the wall, in their HOME. The shot came from the neighbor’s house.
Liza called 911 immediately, and within minutes had a swarm of Sherriffs and Dputies at her door. Liza’s brother and sister-in-law came over and helped take Liza and Cleo to the 24-hour vet clinic to get care for her wound. Luckily, the bullet missed the bone, ligaments and tendons, and no surgery has been required thus far. She will hopefully have a quick recovery, physically at least. She will need bandage changes for a few days, and Liza will have to be with her constantly to watch for other signs. They did not find the bullet, and at the time Liza did not have enough funds for an x-ray, so they are hoping there are no fragments left in her leg. Thankfully, Buster, Max and Winnie are all okay of body, but certainly NOT okay of mind. They are terrified, in shock and have been driven from their home to now cuddle and sleep together in a nearby Motel room.
Liza had to clear out, as her home is now deemed unsafe. Its hard enough caring for healthy animals in a safe and secure HOME. Imagine the trauma of living in a Motel as funds run out daily, taking care of a puppy that has been SHOT? Absolutely heartbreaking. Especially because Liza does so much for so many and never asks for anything in return. NOW she needs help. She needs a place to live. Being homeless is something no one should have to go through, and especially under these circumstances. This is unspeakable.

This seems unreal. What’s worse, what if Liza was still sitting there with her dogs, as she had been a few minutes earlier? What if Liza was shot!!? What if Cleo was killed?
They are forced to find a new home, pay for a Motel, vet bills, and come up with First and Last to secure a new place to live and mind you, mere days before Thanksgiving and the unforgiving Colorado winter. Liza was on a pretty tight budget as she had just relocated, so the timing was awful.
We plead with you now as Liza, the most fun loving and infectious people I know, who cares so much for people, nature and animals alike, for the first time in her life, is asking for a helping hand from anyone that can assist. No amount is too small, every single dollar is a gesture that will give her hope, restore her faith and give her the strength to rebuild yet again. Your generosity now will be appreciated beyond words and surely will be reciprocated with true heartfelt thanks and eternal gratitude not only from Liza, but also Cleo, Max, Buster and Winnie too. She has used all of her money that was set aside for her monthly expenses to pay for the vet bills and the first few nights at the motel. She is now using her December rent money to pay for the motel, but how will she pay her rent when she does find a new place? WITH YOUR HELP!
So we are asking you to please, take the spirit of the holidays, the goodness of your hearts, and your love for animals, justice and all the good in the word, to help this wonderful woman, who I am lucky to call my friend, and her family of sweet “fur babies” in their time of need find a HOME. A safe home. She deserves a home at the very least. Please feel free and feel encouraged to share this with as many people as you can. Time is of the essence! We need to find this wonderful woman and her beautiful animals a safe place to live as soon as possible! We sincerely thank you. Xo
