When it comes to being a mother, over coming obstacles is inevitable and with the strength a mother holds they are possible. But when it comes to over coming the obstacles of having an ill child, strength can be tested. There is one mother that amazes me beyond words.
Julie and Edgar were recently blessed with a gorgeous little boy named Brayden. There family was complete with a thriving little girl and boy. Up until a few months ago.
At 6 months old you see your child's mind begin to grow. You experience coos, little laughs and smiles. Julie and Edgar have yet to experience any of it from Brayden. A few months ago Brayden had a seizure. Everyone thought it was due to a fever, vaccines, or a UTI but she was never given a solid answer by any doctor. Over time his seizures increased and so did the ER visits. Over the past few months of multiple doctors visits, specialist, hospital stays, there have no solid diagnosis. Doctors began prescribing medications that would put Brayden to sleep for hours, lose motor skills, and to the point of forgetting to drink from a bottle. He is now on a feeding tube. The medications change and doctor visits continue but no solid diagnosis.
The latest prognosis given was cerebral palsy and epilepsy. A diagnosis that throws the sound of your child yelling mommy out the window. Something that I know touches every mother heart. This is where the strength comes into play. I see Julie one a daily bases at work as well as Brayden. Even with all the turmoil in her life, Julie continues to smile. She continues to stay positive and keep her faith intact. This is a strength not only amazing but inspirational.
As Julie and Edgar continue the journey to find a diagnosis and cure for their son, the medical bills pile up. The daily chores of life never stop. But there determination doesn't lesson. This is where these two amazing parents need our help.
