Love for Lauren

Donation protected
As most of you already know, I'm not so secretly obsessed with my dogs. My little dog posse (LDP) consists of Rocket (12), Holiday (2) and Lauren (1), a little papillon mix. Lauren became the youngest member last July, thanks to Care Rescue LA. I only intended to foster Lauren but naturally fell in love with her the moment I saw her.

Lauren, her brothers and mom were rescued in Beijing, China under a mountain of bricks. When I saw the video of the rescue, I was sobbing. Below is the first photo I saw of her and despite all reason, was moved to foster her.

I fell in love with Lauren the moment I saw her photo. She was so alive, sweet and playful though very (and understandably) skittish. I earned her trust over the next months through lots of treats, snuggling and petting. She especially loves being pet behind the ears and chest. When I first got her, she wouldn't even kiss me. And now I can ask her for a kiss and she gently leans in for one. I've watched her open up and she's easily become the most loving dog I've had. Now comes the sad stuff.

After a week of taking her from vet to vet and multiple misdiagnosis's, I finally took her to VCA West LA. Lauren was recently diagnosed with inflammatory brain disease otherwise known as Meninogoencephalitis. It causes swelling and inflammation in the brain and is life threatening if not aggressively and swiftly treated.  She suffered her first seizure there that night and is now on anti-seizure meds and pain killers. Her MRI and blood work that revealed her unfortunate diagnosis.

The neurologist thinks it's treatable with chemo meds and steroids. All of this to say, it's very expensive and I've already paid thousands in extremely unexpected vet bills.

Lauren is just a baby, we just celebrated her first birthday on April 27. This treatment is necessary to help save her but it will be an ongoing expensive process, but it's hopeful that she will live a completely normal life. It has been so painful to watch her suffer, I only want what is best for her but selfishly I want her to stay with me for a long time. I cannot imagine my life without her.

I'm asking for your help. If everyone on social media gave $1, we could earn enough money to not only save her but make sure she lives a comfortable and really happy life. I love this dog, she is my family, my baby girl. It is hard for me to ask for money, but I just can't afford this on my own while my work has stopped entirely. I know a lot of us are suffering right now, I only ask that you do what you can. And if you can't give, please just share on your social media.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping us. If there is any extra money fundraised, I will be donating to Care Rescue LA so they can keep saving animals.

The money you are giving is going toward the vet bills and ongoing medication for Lauren to live a healthy life that she deserves.
