Loved Teacher, Mrs. Stasio, medical-assisted living needs
Donation protected
Calling all Bobcats, Cougars, Padres and the greater Carmel Unified family!
One of our beloved educators needs our support right now! First grade teacher, Mrs. Stasio, has found herself with mounting medical bills while she awaits a surgery that was promised to her last summer.
After scheduling both hip and knee replacements in the fall/winter and doing her part to be ready for the operation (including healthy eating and exercise at the Sports Center/water aerobics), the surgeries were cancelled. With the rug pulled out from Teresa, she needed to go on sick leave for what would have been her final year teaching before retirement! Despite her continued efforts, her health, joints and mobility have continued to deteriorate; necessitating her admission into an assisted-care facility while awaiting surgery.
Most unfortunate—and shockingly--after teaching for 38 years (18 at Tularcitos) Teresa’s Medical Insurance is no longer covering her stay at an assisted living facility while she awaits new dates for the surgeries. The basic stay at the facility is $550/day, a fee that almost doubles if she receives the physical therapy she desperately needs. Suddenly, Teresa has found herself facing exponentially increasing bills that she is unable to cover! This, my friends, is where we come in!
Mrs. Stasio has given her all to our children for years. She's taught them to be scholars, stewards of earth, and good people who look out for one another. The impact of all her work vibrates through our community, and now, we have the opportunity to send both appreciation and grace her way. We are aiming to raise a minimum of $70,000, which covers the basic facility care for four (4) months, in hopes she can get cleared for surgery before the end of June.
Our hope is that by alleviating some of the financial burden, Mrs. Stasio can be free to focus on her health and recovery! Although she still plans on retiring and continuing to focus on her health, she will be forced to return to work if medical bills continue to mount. As critical as the financial boost will be, it is the compassion behind your contribution that will remind Mrs. Stasio that she is not alone. Let’s let Teresa know that the community she has invested in for so many years is supporting her now!
Many of you know that no one leaves Mrs. Stasio’s class without a hug or a high five, so let’s not leave her hanging!
With Deepest Thanks!
