The Love all dogs society was created to help feed and support the dogs of San Francisco's homeless.
On a cold night in December I spotted a frail German shephard huddled close to woman begging for change outside of a Safeway plaza. The look of sadness on the face of both the woman as well as the dog was heartbreaking. I went back into the Safeway and bought $5 worth of dog food and treats. After introducing myself to both of them the woman allowed me to feed and pet her loving girl, Agnes. Agnes was a 21 year old GSD who could Not have been sweeter and more thankful for the food and treats. Tears ran down my face as the woman thanked me repeatedly for giving her precious girl some food. The woman beamed while petting Agnes, watching her scarf down food like it was the first time. At no point did the woman ask me for anything. When I handed her $10 she attempted to give it back to me. " You've allready done so much for us.' she told me, but I wouldnt take the money back. She blessed me and wished me a merry Christmas.
I went back to that location for days after, but never saw the woman or dear Agnes again. I told myself that I owed it to Agnes to make sure that ALL dogs have a full belly as well as building an allbeit brief, but sincere bond with someone who just appreciated the attention.
Since that cold December night Ive been fortunate enough to meet and feed over two dozen dogs. I've had wonderful conversations with their human companions, and I've always left with tears in my eyes!!
