As many of you know, on the evening of August 30th a fire broke out at One Kendall that left everyone’s favorite party spot – Flat Top Johnny’s- covered in soot and water. Thankfully, insurance will cover the facility repairs, and the lost wages of full-time staff, but four full-time staff, and three part-time staff work for tips, and will not be taking home their regular earnings.
Flat Top Johnny’s has always been first in line to help our favorite community based organizations, including Bikes Not Bombs, the Boston Cyclists Union, Boston Bike Party, Femmechanics, Best Buddies, Boston Arts Sport Entertainment, and many others. They’ve given us a space to come together for good times. They’ve hosted countless events and fundraisers for the causes we value. They’ve served fantastic food and drink, entertained us, and made us feel like family –since 1993. Now it’s time to return the favor! Let’s show Flat Top’s staff how much we appreciate them, and support them during their time of need.
John and his team are working hard to get FTJ’s back in business, but it will take a little while. Our goal is to raise enough money to support these rock stars while Flat Top’s is closed. That’s $1,000 a month for each of them to put towards rent, food, bills, and child care. Help us help them over the few months until FTJ’s can reopen. It's our turn to step up and show some love. Let's do this!
