Donations For Carr Family: A Fight Against Terminal Cancer
Donation protected

A beloved husband, devoted Christian, and cherished family member is facing the ultimate test of strength and courage. Richard (Ricky) Carr has been diagnosed with terminal Invasive Squamous Cell Carcinoma, leaving our family heartbroken but determined to stand together against this devastating disease.
The diagnosis has brought overwhelming news: the cancer has spread to multiple areas, including his nose, neck, and lung. Specifically, the Invasive Squamous Cell Carcinoma has invaded:
- Three lymph nodes in his neck
- A 4-inch cancer mass in his lung
- His nose, where a 1.5-inch cancer mass was removed, but is now showing signs of regrowth
Chemotherapy and radiation are his only hopes for managing symptoms as he is stage 4, and inoperable, making these treatments only an extender of his life at this time. Recently, Richard underwent surgery to implant a chemotherapy port – a small, implantable device that allows for easier administration of chemotherapy drugs. This port is placed under the skin in the upper left side of his chest and runs directly through an artery, connecting to his heart. The port enables healthcare providers to:
- Deliver chemotherapy medications directly into his bloodstream through his heart
- Draw blood samples for testing without needing repeated needle pokes
- Administer other essential fluids and medications as needed
The chemotherapy port surgery marks the beginning of a daunting journey, but it will simplify Richard's (Ricky)'s treatment process and reduce discomfort.
Today, Richard (Ricky) completed his radiation mapping – a critical step in preparing for his upcoming radiation treatment. During this process:
- A CT scan was performed to create detailed images of his body and tumor sites
- Tiny tattoos were placed on his skin to guide radiation beams during treatment
- A custom-fit mesh mask was created to immobilize his head and neck during radiation sessions, ensuring precise targeting of cancer cells
This meticulous planning phase will enable oncologists to deliver high-precision radiation doses directly to tumor sites, minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy tissue. Radiation treatment is scheduled to begin soon, and we're bracing ourselves for the challenges ahead.
As Richard (Ricky) Carr battles terminal cancer, our family struggles to cope with the emotional and financial toll. My own health issues – a paralyzed gastrointestinal system, reliance on a 24/7 feeding tube, and ileostomy – leave me weakened and unable to work. With Richard (Ricky) Carr unable to provide for our family due to his illness and my disability income barely covering essentials, we're drowning in debt and uncertainty.
Yet even in darkness, love shines bright. Our family's bond grows stronger with each passing day. Friends, loved ones, and community – your support means everything to us. Contributions to this fund will directly aid:
- Richard Carr's cancer treatments and care
- Our mounting medical bills and expenses
- Essential household needs, ensuring a safe environment for us both
Please donate and share Richard & Trisha Shakespeare Carr's story to help us navigate this unforgiving journey with love, hope, and courage. Every gift – big or small – brings comfort and strength to our family.
