"LOVE TO YOUR HEARTS ALWAYS"

Tax deductible
On December 10, 2024, Saundra (Sandy) Shaver lost her six-year battle with cancer. She survived a stage 4 colon cancer diagnosis with aggressive treatments and surgeries, but the disease slowly continued to spread. Sandy was not about to give up, had a passion for living life to the fullest, and fought as long and hard as her body allowed.

Sandy received her oncology care at Mercy Hospital in Baltimore. Her care team soon became part of her family. She and her husband Alan would frequent the hospital and her care team, bringing cards, posters, hugs, and of course, Sandy’s infectious smile. Sharing what was most important, love, love, and more love. But that was Sandy; she only knew how to give. Giving was healing, and she continued to give even in the darkest of hours.

I have known Sandy for most of my adult life. She was my fellow Heart Monger and concert-goer. We would find each other at events with her signature “aahhhoooowww,” long before cell phones were around. She was always smiling. She was a strong and protective person who honestly lit up a room as soon as she entered it. Her strength was unwavering, kind, and loving.

As a cancer survivor myself (Ronnda Cadle), living in Seattle, I wanted to put something together in her honor. I had asked Alan (her husband) if I could do a benefit concert to raise money and we donate it in Sandy’s name. He thought it would be a great thing if we could organize it around the National Cancer Survivors Day that Mercy Hospital in Baltimore holds annually.

I will be performing a benefit concert on Saturday, June 7th, in Maryland, and will be providing music at the Mercy Hospital event on Sunday, June 8th, as well as playing for the oncology patients and caretakers on Monday, June 9th. Through this, I will personally get to meet and thank her care team for all that they did for my dear friend, and for all that they do daily. Leaving them with what Sandy would say, “Love to your hearts always.”

We thought we would add a GoFundMe page in case those who cannot attend the event in Maryland but wanted to contribute had the opportunity to do so.
