Love & Support for Izzy’s bright future
Donation protected
On Friday 24th September, there was a tragic boating accident on Narrabeen Lake involving our beautiful, sporty, vivacious, and intelligent Isabelle (Izzy) Hoffman. Fifteen-year-old Izzy, along with some friends, were enjoying a day on the water, boating and paddle boarding, when the freak accident occurred. Izzy was put into an induced coma and airlifted to Westmead Children’s Hospital, where she underwent immediate surgery for severe head trauma to save her life.
After 48 hours in a coma, Izzy spent several days in intensive care, followed by four long weeks at Westmead Children’s Hospital. Izzy is now home for a brief period before she returns to hospital for another major surgery, in mid-November.
In the short term, Izzy will not be able to work her beloved job at the local bakery, play competitive netball with her friends in NYC, or join in any of the adrenalin or competitive school or weekend sports that she loved so much. Izzy will also need to have at least two years of rehabilitation. In the long term, she will face many physical and psychological challenges as she learns to navigate life with a brain injury.
With permission from her parents, this page has been set up by local mums Alissa Blair, Brenda Webster, Jane Kinkade, Kirsty Taylor, Louise Green and Sarah Eade to support Izzy’s future personal costs, including medical, dental, counselling and loss of income throughout her adult years.
All funds raised will go directly to Isabelle Hoffman.
