On May 20, 2021, our beloved friend John Whelden left earth for the spirit world. He was a profoundly compassionate person who lived by his mantra promote peace. He was an earth angel who felt deeply and touched the lives of every person he met. He would say I love you with every hug goodbye — and would often say it while you were sitting next to each other, listening to one of his favorite songs and soaking in the simple pleasures of life. In the heartbreak of losing him, we also know that John’s soul is at peace now; that he is free. We intend to continue to promote peace just like John did.
John left behind his soulmate and life partner, Cortney Marcinczyk. Amidst their incredible life together, Cortney stood by John during his times of immense pain. She was by his side at every turn and made sure he knew that she loved him more than anything. In his darkest hours, Cortney never let him forget his immense light. Cortney and John’s love inspired all of us to laugh often, have a little more fun, and dive spontaneously into each moment.
John’s death leaves Cortney displaced mentally, emotionally and financially. As Cortney rebuilds her life and begins a long healing journey, we want to honor John by supporting her in every way that we can. She will be adjusting to a new life without him and the home in the mountains that they shared. There is so much unknown ahead of her and, as Cortney’s friends and family, we know that she cannot traverse the next part of her journey alone. John would want us all to love and support Cortney the way he did. Our intention and hope is that this fund will provide Cortney a sense of ease, safety and care as she navigates the terrain ahead of her. This fund will provide Cortney logistical and practical support over the next few months as she grieves, recovers and finds her footing again. Cortney supported John until the very end. Thank you for joining us in supporting her when she needs us most.
Although it is impossible to estimate the cost of Cortney's needs as she embarks on her healing journey and the rebuilding of her life, we wanted to allow for ample opportunity to support her over time. Any amount is deeply appreciated. Thank you so much for being here.
