Love & Support for Andre

Who do you know who cares so deeply about others (his students, his family, his friends) as Andre Torrence? His heart is so big as is his hands to encompass the dreams of his students, the future of his family and the aspirations of his friends. Andre’s faith is unwavering and his patience is that of a Saint, dedicated and compassionate with dreams of transforming the world by building a bridge to people’s hearts. To know him is to truly love him.

On December 3rd our lives were all impacted as our dear Andre suffered a hemorrhagic stroke, which is caused when the blood vessels in your brain rupture. As you can imagine this was a devastating blow as Andre is so well loved. He is a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, musician, teacher, colleague and mentor. Andre would give you the shirt off of his back, he’s always willing to help and takes great pride in spending time with his grandchildren, teaching students and performing in a few local bands.

Andre is a kind-hearted gentle giant. He is also patient, caring and humorous and it is all of these qualities and many more that make him so special to so many. His presence adds value to any situation, conversation and/or interaction. His strong faith, undeniable strength and perseverance will help him in his journey on the path to recovery.

Many of you have asked how you can help support our family during this difficult time. Due to the extensive damage that was caused by the stroke, Andre spent 24 days in the ICU before relocating to another room within the hospital and he will eventually require impatient rehabilitation and then outpatient and in home rehabilitation. We were told that his healing process could take many months maybe even years. With extensive medical treatment and ongoing therapy, our family could use support with paying the medical bills related to the stroke.

Many of you have called, sent text messages and/or emails filled with heartfelt messages of prayer, hope and love. I want you to know that we feel your love and it is your support that is giving us strength and endurance as we walk through the healing process. To help us with some of the medical and transportation costs, we have established a Go Fund Me to raise money to ensure Andre has access to all of the treatment and services he deserves to make a full recovery.
