Duane Sauer grew up in Nevada County. He married the love of his life Carla Beard in June of 1995. They have two sons Austin who graduated  from Bear River High School in 2017. Their son Cody is currently attending Bear River High School.

In 2019 Duane suffered from a heart attack and had a pacemaker put in. He then had to leave his job at Nevada County where he worked as an RN3 Equipment Operator.

This past December, Duane wasn’t feeling well. After a few days he was getting worse and had no appetite. He stopped eating. His loving wife, was very worried about her husband, encouraged him to go the hospital to find out what was happening.

After running numerous tests, they got the news no one wants to hear - they found cancer in his colon. The cancer was removed along with 18 inches of his colon. We are praying that they got all the cancer, but in a few weeks Duane will be starting 6 months of chemotherapy.

Duane is fighting for his life!

He has a huge heart and would do anything for his friends and family. His retirement barely covers his everyday needs and with the long road ahead, Duane will have high medical bills that his retirement doesn't cover.

As friends and family of the Sauer family, we need to do what we can to help them with the expensive medical cost, gas to and back from doctor visits, plus chemo appointments. He will also have higher utility cost due to the at home care he needs.
