"Love Over War"... Gaza Relief and Recovery
Donation protected
Dear compassionate souls around the world,
My name is Feras Shaheen, I was a Palestinian journalist, who has been working for Alghad TV for the past three years. As a producer and editor, I documented and videotaped Palestinians' struggles in Gaza during the siege and military escalation. As a journalist who worked in Gaza during the toughest times, I saw the struggle and depression of the Palestinian people because of the current situation, and it is my obligation as a journalist today to not only document the crimes that are being committed, but also to try and help the people and provide any kind of help to make their lives a little bit easier during these hardships you can find my linkedin reference at the bottom along with my instagram account and facebook.
I am reaching out to those who believe in the boundless capacities of humanity, freedom, peace, and justice. I implore you to acknowledge the precious lives of innocent children, women, and men that are hanging by a thread. Over 10,000 children have lost their lives since the onset of this war, with an additional 2,000 still missing. Heartbreakingly, 58,000 people have been injured. In Gaza, for every 100 individuals, one has lost their life, and three are grappling with injuries. As of now, 23,000 have perished, 7,000 are missing, and the count continues to rise. Regrettably, there seems to be no end in sight to this devastating conflict. Even if a resolution were to emerge, 85% of homes have been reduced to rubble, and 90% of the population is grappling with famine.
In the aftermath of the north's evacuation, Rafah city south of the Gaza strip is now deemed the most densely populated area globally which is home to 1.5 million people who fled from the destruction of the north to be crammed into approximately 151 km². Thus, this appeal is not solely an urgent cry for help, it is also a plea for the promise of hope.
In the past three months, the people of Gaza have endured unimaginable hardships. Never before in our nation's history have our people faced such dire circumstances. More than one million Palestinian children are trapped in an open prison, where the fear of death and the anguish of losing loved ones are not only their adversaries but also the grim realities of starvation, sleeping on cold streets, inhabiting makeshift tents, and attending schools bursting beyond capacity. Each classroom accommodates more than 40 to 50 people, while each tent houses 20 to 30 individuals. A dire shortage of supplies compounds the issue, with skyrocketing prices of food, water, and other necessities making it impossible for people to acquire even the most basic essentials.
For $140, you can purchase 30 kilograms of flour, sustaining many Gazans surviving on bread, if available and affordable. One hundred dollars equals 375 shekels, and with 150 shekels, you can acquire a packet of diapers. With the remaining funds, a family could be fortunate enough to obtain 3 or 5 kilograms of flour and maybe a kilogram of tomatoes.
Adding to the heartache, a harsh winter has damaged and, at times, collapsed the tents our people now call home. We beseech anyone with a compassionate soul, anyone able to help, to contribute to our cause. Your generosity will provide solace to the children of Gaza and their families who not only endure the loss of their homes and loved ones but also the lack of basic necessities to endure this challenging winter.
May the war end swiftly, allowing our people to experience a semblance of peace and security. We undertake this responsibility to relay the voices of the oppressed and seek your assistance. Please know that the contributions made to this fundraiser will provide our people with the strength and support they desperately need from you to endure this brutal conflict.
