Help Support Linda Through Ovarian Cancer
Hi Friends and Family,
Linda Elliot, our incredible mama and step-mama, was recently diagnosed with Stage three ovarian cancer.
She is our favorite person. She’s taught us to see the world in a way only her unique, loving, witty, and kind heart could see it. We both depend on her being our own personal mastermind; the one who could hold turbulent waters steady with her bare hands if she tried, and our most trusted brine-banishing expert when we’re in a pickle. Her thoughtfulness radiates and her big generous smile could stop a train in its tracks. She can always be found at the front of the line, offering help, advice, comfort, and care to those in need, from her students and colleagues to friends and family.
We know this is a shared sentiment, and she is deeply loved by many of you big-hearted people. If you can think of times when you or your children were supported by, cared for, or delighted to share the world with one Linda Elliot, now is the time to shine some support back her way.
Ovarian cancer is a particular beast and requires immediate and ongoing treatment. Linda has completed 4 rounds of chemo so far, with some promising results. (yay!) The long road ahead includes 2 or more rounds of chemo, followed by an extensive surgery and 3 additional rounds of chemo.
Both Katie and Linda have had to leave their jobs in light of Linda’s illness, creating a large financial strain. They are thrifty and resourceful, but even when Katie finds a replacement job here in L.A., they can only stretch their humble means so far.
We are raising funds to help cover the following:
* Visits to out-of-network doctors who specialize in pain management, integrative oncology, functional medicine, and acupuncture (for chemo induced neuropathy).
* Medications and other medical bills not fully covered by insurance.
* At-home care and support : including a part-time caregiver when needed, to help with household tasks: cleaning, sanitizing, and cooking.
Any contribution you can give will be greatly appreciated and makes a difference. Your generosity goes directly toward making sure Linda can focus on healing instead of bills.
We also ask for your kind thoughts and positive energy. If you're unable to give financially, please consider sharing this page with your network—it truly helps.
P.S. Linda loves hearing from people via text/email, but just know that she might not respond. These few rounds of chemo have not been without some challenges, making it difficult to respond to every message she receives in a timely fashion--but she does see them all and appreciates them!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
With love and gratitude,
Jessica and Katie
