If you know Janie Tebeau, then you love Janie! She is that type of person on this Earth! And right now Janie needs our love and support. She is in stage five kidney failure and has just recently begun dialysis. She is in need of a donor kidney. Since the pandemic started Janie has also lost her job due to her health issues. And just recently her auto was rear-ended and there is extra cost associated with rental car expense to transport her to her three times weekly dialysis treatments. The challenges just continue to pile up for her.

But as I said earlier if you know Janie, she still has a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone around her. As we all know, when there are health issues in the home, the usual bills continue to flow in and often increase due to reduced capacity. She mentioned an increase in all her co-pays. At this time, Janie is having to commute to Salem for her dialysis due to the impact of COVID on our local health care system. Not only is this very exhausting for Janie but increases her fuel costs as well.

As with all long-term health issues, the future holds more unknowns than knowns for Janie. The knowns are that her medical and medication expenses will increase, her need for support will increase and at times her ability tow rk will decrease or be gone completely. No one knows when a donor will be found or what will unfold in the meantime. So this is our chance to hold Janie up for the long-term and show just how loved she is in our community.

As many of you know, Janie serves her community tirelessly. She not only serves as Vice-President of the Corvallis/Albany NAACP but on many boards and commissions. She brings her voice to the needs of the Black community with her own unique perspective.
