THIS IS KIRBY'S STORY-our wonderful friend and old work colleague. She would take her shirt off her own back for anyone that she knows. Now is our turn to do the same for her and her beautiful kids, Molly and Jack.
I have debated back and forth about sharing my story online, but if it helps one person to know their risk, or do a breast exam then it will have been worthwhile. On the 28th of June, I was diagnosed with a stage 3 triple negative breast cancer with a 4cm lesion in my left breast and detection in my lymph nodes. I have completed 2 rounds of Chemotherapy with 14 more to go... my hair is gone, but not my fighting spirit! Please my friends, I urge you to do monthly breast examinations, and to know your risk. At 35 I had never done a self exam, thinking that breast cancer is for older women. I was wrong. Of the 19 535 women to be diagnosed this year, over 800 will be under 40.
