Honoring Ellis Edward Confer Jr.: A Legacy of Love and Education
With a heavy heart, I share the passing of my dad, Ellis Edward Confer Jr. He passed on November 8th, 2024, in my home, surrounded by my mom, myself and my daughters.
As many know, this journey has been deeply challenging, but it has also been filled with the incredible support, kindness, and generosity of those who loved him and those moved by his story.
Over the past 10 months, his condition rapidly progressed, and the financial burden of providing the specialized care he needed was immense. Throughout this journey, we faced countless challenges with Ellis's care, including inadequate support from facilities, dismissive medical responses, and constant battles to ensure he received the respect, dignity, and specialized treatment he so deeply deserved—fights we undertook daily out of love and unwavering commitment to his well-being. We were able to move him 'home' on October 29th and thanks to your support, we were able to give him the dignity, comfort, and love he so greatly deserved in his final days.
Thank You for Your Generosity
Every donation, prayer, and word of encouragement made a difference. The funds raised went directly to Ellis's care, ensuring he had the essential support to navigate this difficult chapter. We are profoundly grateful for your kindness and compassion.
Carrying Forward His Legacy
Ellis was more than a father, husband, and grandfather; he was a teacher, a mentor, and a champion for Black youth and education. To honor his legacy, any additional donations will go toward establishing a scholarship fund in his name at Lindblom College Prep, where his commitment to empowering others will live on. This scholarship will support students pursuing excellence and embodying the values Ellis held dear—education, innovation, and perseverance.
Even in his final days, Ellis’s love for his family shone through, asking for us daily despite the challenges of his condition. His legacy will forever be one of love, resilience, and dedication.
Thank you for standing by us during this journey and for helping us honor the extraordinary life of Ellis Edward Confer Jr.
