Prevenative Crisis Lifeline Signs

NOTiCE is an non-profit organization dedicated to raising donations on GoFundMe.com for the one and only purpose of purchasing National Suicide Prevention Lifeline Signs, and installing them surrounding un-fenced train track areas and railroad crossings in the costal cities of San Diego county. Love Heals was started by San Diego native Kassidy Kanner, in efforts to raise awareness and spread preventative efforts on the local issue of train related suicides.
Kanner has set out to create a sign that inspires hope and encourages others to seek help when battling with challenging thoughts. The signs all read “National Suicide Prevention Lifeline” with the telephone number 1-800-273-8255. The donations raised by NOTiCE via GoFundMe.com will ensure that more signs are permanently placed in efforts to expand the outreach and save as many lives as possible. These signs have a very important purpose, and that is to give someone a sign to live, and a sign to seek help. These signs are helping to create a community of people helping people, spreading love and appreciation for one another, and showing to others that their lives matter, thus, creating a place where love heals.
The Story:
"In 2017, in the vibrant city of Encinitas, a tragedy struck at my doorstep. In March of 2017, a man walked out in front of a train in efforts to end his life. At the time, I was living less than a mile from the scene. What came after the accident was an effort towards change and prevention. My first thought was, “I wish there was something he could of seen, like a sign.” So thats exactly what I did. My first action, I printed out about 30 signs saying “There is Help” with the National Suicide Crisis Hotline phone number written in bold ink, and I taped them under the pre existing signs on the tracks. I wanted to get the message out there that someone out there does care about your life, I want you to live."
The next step: "I needed more signs for the hundreds of miles of un-fenced railroad tracks in San Diego. I started a petition online on Care2.com, in efforts to obtain signatures from people in support. Care2.com offered to promote the petition and with their help, the petition got over 12,000 signatures in 72 hours. And to go even further, they got in contact with media outlets and the city of San Diego to promote the idea of permeant signs to be put up around the tracks."
"It miraculously worked. In the next short months, there were signs popping up all over our tracks. The feedback was tremendous and I am grateful for every second of it. However, we aren't done. As of today, we have 8 signs. Our goal is to see that number triple if not more. Our city has miles and miles of unfenced and exposed rail road tracks. The sad truth is that they are easily accessible. Fencing is the ideal option here, but its also the expensive one. So lets give people a vision of hope and a voice of reason. Lets give a sign for someone who is looking for one. A sign that emphasizes and encompasses love for one another. A sign that can save lives."
