Hi, I’m Jami (Dudenhoeffer) Allen, Lexi’s sister.
My siblings and I created this GoFundMe to support Lexi after the horrific car accident she was in on the afternoon of August 24th in Atlanta, GA. Below, I’ll share the original story and details I posted shortly after the crash, but we wanted to make a dedicated space where friends, family, and community can rally around her.
Our hope is that this fundraiser helps ease some of the stress on Lexi, our parents (who will be her primary caregivers) and her two beautiful kids as Lexi begins the long journey of healing and processing the trauma from this event.
Funds raised will go toward:
• Multiple types of therapy to aid recovery
• Takeout meals and groceries to ease daily burdens
• ADA accommodations and medical equipment
• Needs for her kids while their mom heals
• Medical bills not covered by insurance
• Other unexpected expenses that arise along the way
We are so deeply grateful for every bit of love, support, and generosity. Thank you for lifting Lexi and our family up during this difficult time.
With love,
The Dudes

My story I shared on social media days after the crash:
"Hey friends,
I wanted to share what is going on since it’s hard to share with each of you individually. On Sunday (8/24), Lexi was in a horrible car accident in Atlanta. She was in the car with her boyfriend and 2 other friends on the way to meet our brother Adam, his family, and her kids at the Atlanta United game.
On their way there, her boyfriend went unconscious at the wheel, likely due to a seizure, but doctors are still looking for the cause. During the seizure, his foot locked onto the gas pedal and they hit 2 cars, 2 trees, a fire hydrant, and then smashed into the back of a stopped city bus at roughly 60-80 miles an hour. Lexi had taken off her seatbelt to get control of the car before the crash. She was able to steer and dodge some things and likely saved some pedestrians in the process, but couldn’t stop the car. Thank goodness for airbags. They kept Lexi from going through the windshield when they hit the Marta bus.
Lexi has 3 breaks/fractures in her right leg/ankle/foot, all ligaments are torn, a fractured hip, a broken clavicle, a couple of fractured vertebrae, lots of cuts, and her face got pretty banged up. She has had 2 painful surgeries on her leg and hopefully won’t need any more. She is doing better every day, she is in good spirits, and just extremely thankful everyone is alive.
Her boyfriend was being kept in an induced coma. He has a few brain bleeds, fractured vertebrae, a fractured hip, a ruptured spleen, facial fractures, and some cracked ribs. They fixed the spleen and have monitored the brain bleeds closely. Amazingly, the bleeds were all on the outside of the brain, which is great. They are easing him out of the coma and they were able to take him off of the breathing machine. He woke for the first time on Tuesday and wrote on his board “WTF?”. Made everyone laugh. He’s been such a trooper and is looking good. I got to see him on Wednesday and for about 10 seconds he saw me, his eyes brightened up, he reached for my hand, patted his heart, and gave me a high five. He immediately asked how Lexi was doing.
The female in the backseat had an intestinal hernia from the seatbelt and had emergency surgery hours after the crash. She has had a second surgery and will need more to repair her intestinal wall.
The male in the back has a shattered knee and all ligaments torn. He will have knee replacement next week.
It’s been one hell of a week. Though it’s been pretty horrific and there are many long roads to recovery, we are all so thankful everyone is alive and expected to pull through.
Just keep the love and healing vibes coming. They are working
Lots of love,
Jami
