A good story can change the world.
My life has been filled with beautiful, transformative stories: storytelling through community and school theatre, proclaiming the Gospel story through lectoring and choir at St. Andrew parish, and listening to the stories of students in St. Gertrude Youth Ministry and the NKU Newman Center. Even my family has had some pretty adventurous moments in our story over the past few years.
Now that college is over, it’s time to embark on the next leg of my adventure. Enter the Love Good Apprenticeship Program in Nashville, nine months of intensive formation in the art of being human. While there, we apprentices will...
· Live in community.
· Engage in a rigorous prayer routine.
· Accompany teens from area youth groups and high schools.
· Receive formation in topics like evangelization and leadership.
· Hone our individual gifts with mentorship and training toward a possible future career.
When I was looking for a stepping stone between college and career, I knew I wanted to be on mission, but I also wanted to train for the future. At Love Good, I’ll have that balance. I’ll walk alongside young people as they get to know the Master Storyteller. I’ll continue my acting and vocal training and connect to the arts world in Nashville. I’ll be surrounded by holy, creative people and develop habits of prayer and intentional living that will equip me for whatever comes next.
I always feared that my “ministry side” was opposed to my “artsy theatre side.” I feel like Love Good is God’s reassurance that my gifts and passions are essential to my mission. As I continue praying and learning about the transforming power of beauty in culture, I become increasingly convinced that bubblegum pop and brighter lipstick aren’t gonna cut it. The world needs real beauty desperately: heart-piercing encounters that give us a reason to keep living. I firmly believe in Love Good’s mission, and I am thrilled to be part of such a movement.
We are all called to use our gifts to bring people into the love story between God and His people. I invite you to prayerfully consider whether God is calling you to enter into this mission. Please pray for me and all the apprentices, that God would guide us and that we would be open to His plans. Please also pray about whether God is calling you to help fund my apprenticeship year. My goal is $15,000, which includes a program fee, rent and utilities, groceries, gas, personal costs, and a group trip to Italy or New Zealand. However you choose to join me, know of my thanks and prayers for you.
The Gospel story is important. It changed the world 2,000 years ago, and it can change the world again. Let’s not just tell the story – let’s join the story.
