Love Gifts from Wendy’s Angel’s

Hi folks, I’m Sheila Pearl launching this GoFundMe fundraising project for my precious friend Wendy Coven Blanchard. Wendy needs our collective generous donations now. Timing is everything. 

Wendy - author, mental health educator and advocate, teacher, mother & grandmother - has been struggling for a long time with profound physical challenges and pain which has reached a tipping point. Wendy lives alone, owns no property, has depleted her savings, has used all her sick time and still cannot return to work. No work. No pay. No pay, no income to live. No income to live, where does one go? What does one do? Wendy will also need to pay for medical insurance now that she is unable to return to work.

Wendy is facing the probability of spinal surgery. In the meantime, she is at home resting under doctor’s orders for four compression fractures in the spine which is a completely different medical crisis and unrelated to the surgery that she has seen a surgeon about at NY Spine Institute. The surgeon has told Wendy that the compression of her spine is of the utmost concern and most likely requires surgery. This compression has affected Wendy’s ability to walk, sit, or stand comfortably for more than a few minutes, and sent her to the ER last month. Wendy had no idea why she was experiencing piercing and sudden pain in her lower back, sides, and pelvic area. MRI has shown us the fractures. Wendy is completing her battery of tests on Friday, April 28th, and will make a determination at that time as to her care plan with her surgeon.

At this moment, Wendy is suffering severe and chronic physical pain. Wendy is feeling the terror of becoming homeless and having no place to go. When there is no income for paying rent and other basic living expenses, how can any human being heal and return to health?

Wendy’s reactions to this stressful situation are further exacerbating her already complicated health crisis. It is more likely than not that Wendy will need spinal surgery. Surgery would be yet an additional crisis of care - and huge expense. 

Right now, a few of Wendy’s closest friends are working together with me to ensure that our precious Wendy rests and heals while she stays in her apartment. We want Wendy to regain her vigor and full function so she can return to our world, enriching children and adults with her teaching wisdom.
