Love for Zi and the rest of the Gakumba family
Donation protected
We all know and love Ziella. Some of us may not know that, over the past 9 years, Zi has had 5 brain surgeries to remove a tumor and cysts, the most recent of which was in January of this year to remove a cyst in the middle of her brain that was causing memory loss and fainting. She has a 6th surgery next week to remove a cyst near her optic nerve that is causing vision difficulty. She will also start radiation therapy again soon. The underlying cause is unknown at this time.
Zi and her family have been through more than most of us can imagine. Despite this, she, her Mom, Dad and brother, Yannick, have demonstrated nothing but grace, optimism and graciousness. They are the most loving, grateful, resilient people.
As we all know, healthcare is not cheap. I can only imagine the cost of 6 brain surgeries, 2 rounds of radiation therapy and regular follow-up with sub-specialists. On top of this, Zi and her parents have been unable to work throughout some of this time.
Zi and her family would never ask for this, but I know a donation of any size would mean the absolute world to them. It can be hard to know exactly how to show support for those we love during times like this, but easing their financial burden is a good start.
If you’d like, please also leave a note of encouragement to Zi and her family. (A link to do so will be in the email you get after donating.) Lastly, Zi is looking for audiobook requests so leave any favorites in the comments or message her. :)
