On September 16, 2020 Amanda and Scott Dillon welcomed their sweet girl Rylee Mae into the world at 34 weeks gestation. A week earlier Amanda went to the hospital and was admitted and monitored for severe preeclampsia. The doctors allowed her to continue strict bed rest at home and keep bi-weekly appointments.
At her 34 week appointment with Maternal Fetal Medicine they determined that delivering her early was the best way to keep both mom and baby safe. At 34 weeks little Rylee made her preemie debut weighing in at 4 lbs 1 oz and 17” long.
Amanda delivered via c section and shortly after incurred a traumatic and unexpected emergency. Amanda was experiencing postpartum hemorrhage while her blood pressure plummeted. So far she has had a blood and platelet transfusion along with continued treatment. Amanda is being monitored closely for a few things, including additional hemorrhaging, postpartum preeclampsia and any tachycardia episodes.
Rylee will be staying in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Golisanos Childrens Hospital until she can breath without respiratory support, feed by mouth, maintain her body temperature and gain weight. These are milestones that mom and dad are very excited to watch her reach! She is anticipated to need many weeks in the NICU before mom and dad will be allowed to take her home to meet big sister Raegan- and they can’t wait to begin their family as 4 :)
My goal for this fund is simply to alleviate some of the stress & financial burden that comes with a premature birth and unexpected hospitalization. The money raised will be used for baby Rylee's medical expenses incurred during her NICU stay, expenses from Amanda’s hospitalization, lost wages, transportation/travel costs to and from the NICU, meal costs, care for Raegan etc.
Amanda is my best friend and if you know this couple then you’ve seen firsthand what selfless and compassionate people they are. They now define NICU parents as parents of now two 34 week preemie girls due to preeclampsia.
Let’s show them some love and support! There is no gift too small and I appreciate you taking the time to visit here.
I’ll continue updating this page with Rylee’s progress so we can all enjoy seeing her achieve these special milestones over the coming weeks.
