The Barto family has always been the very picture of the hands and feet of Jesus.
When there's a need, they give. They love. They serve.
Debbie is a teacher and tutor who sees education as a ministry and loves serving those who struggle the most, including and especially former orphans learning both love and English at the very same time.
Eric is a victorious survivor of GBM, a brutal brain cancer with a grim 5-year survival rate.
This beautiful couple and their precious teenage son, Nolan, shine BRIGHT.
Serve well.
Give much.
Trust big.
And in this season, could use a little bit of love from the community they have encouraged endlessly with their words and their walk.
Eric was admitted to the local hospital last week when he experienced repetitive seizures that could not be controlled. After he did not respond to seizure meds, he was transported to UNC-Chapel Hill, where he has been undergoing sedation, tests and MRIs.
He's now been hospitalized more than a week, and his repetitive seizures are still not under control.
What this couple needs most right now are PRAYERS as we ask a wonder-working God to move mountains on behalf of a family who loves Him madly.
But what this family will need when he returns home is the finances to cover the tests and time involved in Eric's extended hospital stay.
Thank you for considering a donation for a family who donates endlessly of their time, their encouragement, their prayers and their love.
*UPDATE: October 2020
Eric is still hospitalized and very much in need of our love, care and prayers! Thank you SO MUCH for continuing to keep this family lifted up!
*UPDATE FROM DEBBIE: OCTOBER 6, 2020
“Eric had a reaction to the blood thinner they had him on. He has excessive bleeding on the left leg. As a result, he needed a blood transfusion last night. His blood levels were still low this morning, but better than they were. They are monitoring his oxygen for the blood clot that he has in his lung and his blood levels for the next couple of days to make an informed decision. They continue to bring him down off of the phenobarbital (seizure medicine) this week, so prayerfully his body will handle those adjustments. After leaving the hospital, he will need extensive physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy in a nursing facility and outside a nursing facility for many months. This is going to be a very long process. We cherish everyone’s prayers!”
