Many of you will already know and love my gorgeous niece Nori Love. She was born 8 weeks early in January 2022 with a rare and not very well known syndrome called Beckwith–Wiedemann syndrome. She spent 4 weeks in NICU and was diagnosed with the syndrome due to her enlarged tongue and kidneys and the small pits in her ears. This affected her breathing and ability to suck a bottle or boob!
Nori has gone through 2 major operations to reduce the size of her tongue- with the latest tongue operation only taking place on 20th September. Nori has been coming on leaps and bounds since her operation and is speaking lots more and is able to eat more foods and close her mouth (something we all just take for granted)
As Nori has a higher risk of kidney cancer while she is young she is scanned every 3 months to check if anything has changed! Unfortunately, on her last scan they saw something on her kidney. Nori then had a CT scan to determine what this was. Our devastating news came on 31st October during Noris recovery from her tongue op- Nori has cancer.
LOVE FOR NORI❤️ The day we have been dreading since we found out Nori had Beckwith Wiedemann Syndrome was upon us yesterday- Nori has cancer. She has what looks to be bilateral Wilms tumours in both her kidneys. She is to start a course of chemotherapy treatment straight away which will last for 12 months including surgery to remove the tumours half way through her treatment.
Nori has had her chemo line operation and is now due to start chemo on 9th November and last for 12 months. The next year is going to be extremely worrying and tough for the whole family. During this time we want to ensure that Hayley and Alex do not have the added stress of worrying about paying the bills-any money raised will help take this stress away and let Hayley and Alex focus on Nori.
