Sometimes in life we just have to let down our "I am good" guard! Now is that time for Nikki and Kevin! My name is Kyra Kelly and I have had the pleasure of working with my "Nordy BFF Nicole" for 12 years! I would like to apologize now for those who have not been aware of Nikki's journey...she is a pretty private person and it has taken a bit of arm twisting getting them to say yes to accepting help!
Nikki was diagnosed with an incurable form of stage 4 cancer back in August of 2017. The cancer affected her back, shoulder, lungs, sternum, hip and ribs. She received an intense round of chemo and occasionally radiation when needed. She was a tough cookie through it all, but their pockets definitely felt the hit! Nikki returned to work in March of 2018, but continued with maintenance chemo and many other appointments.
Fast forward to the beginning of this year. Nikki had been doing well, but was occasionally having discomfort in her chest and neck area. Tests concluded she had fluid around her heart...possibly a side effect of her treatments / medication. She had a procedure around the middle of April to remove the fluid, but other concerns became apparent to Kevin and Zoe pretty quickly after. Nikki was not herself...she was saying weird things, acting different, etc. Nikki convinced them she was fine and decided she wanted to try and go to work. Unfortunately and fortunately, Nikki never made it out of her parking lot because she ran into a parked car. Kevin immediately took her to the hospital where a large brain tumor was found and her brain was bleeding due to its pressure. Doctor's operated a few days later with positive results.
Nikki has been on the road to recovery for a few months now, but the doctor's bills have not been kind. Her insurance covers a decent amount, but 60% of your regular pay goes quick! So many people ask..."how can we help?". Well, here it is! Your generosity would be greatly appreciated, but the family also appreciates if your positive thoughts are all you can do at this time! Sending many thanks in advance from Nikki, Kevin, and their loved ones!
