My name is Johnny Greene — though to Lesha, I was always “Mitch.”

I’ve known Lesha and her family for nearly forty years. We grew up together in Clinchco, spending summers sitting on the porch, weekends cruising through Clintwood and Haysi, and more time at their house than I can count. The Nichols family wasn’t just part of my childhood; they were a second home to me.

On October 10, 2025, Lesha was taken off life support after battling serious complications and blood clots. In the week leading up to her passing, she had been experiencing major health issues and what doctors believe was an earlier heart attack. Even though her loved ones knew she was struggling, the final goodbye still came far too soon, leaving everyone who loved her heartbroken.

Lesha was a light — full of love, laughter, and a kindness that touched everyone she met. She leaves behind her beautiful 20-year-old daughter, Gracie, who is now facing an unimaginable loss and unexpected financial burden.

Gracie has her own struggles that make daily life more difficult than most of us realize, yet she’s always met them with courage. Right now, she needs her community to lift her up. Because this tragedy happened so suddenly, there was no life insurance or preparation for funeral expenses.

This GoFundMe has been created to help cover Lesha’s final expenses through Haysi Funeral Home and to help Gracie manage the responsibilities that have fallen on her during this time.
