Love for Leana

Leana is a radiant glow of light and laughter.
We may know her as a friend, through sisterhood, motherhood, as a member of your community, or you may simply be touched by their story.
She is a mother of two beautiful girls, and a wife to her loving husband Matthew.
Leana is in a critical condition, and in an induced coma, at Armadale Hosptial.
She has been diagnosed with Class A Streptococcus, Toxic Shock Syndrome, Multiple Organ Failure and is suffering from the effects of Septicemia.
Through this tragic ordeal she has lost her baby, of which she was 33 weeks pregnant.
Leana is fighting for her life.
Doctors have indicated Leana has a very long road to recovery.
During this recovery process there is likelihood for loss of limbs, with regard to the necrosis sustained during the initial infection. She will be moved to Royal Perth Hospital, and will be kept in an induced coma during this move.
Once she is stable and showing improvement she will be woken gradually from her coma. This will take weeks.
Over this period love and support from her immediate family is critical.
Her husband Matthew is not leaving her side.
Since Leana went into hospital there has been an overwhelming show of support for her and her family. Family has travelled from interstate, friends have donated food and the outpouring of love and light sent from all corners of her community and beyond has been immense.
To further support this family in this tragic time, they need our financial support.
Leana’s medical journey will be long and expensive.
This includes household costs, bills, travel expenses and accomodation, all whilst Matthew is unable to work, due supporting his family.
The minimum amount we are seeking is $41,600 - $800 per week for the next 12 month period.
However, with Leana still in ICU, the extent of her recovery is not fully understood, as too the financial support that the family will need.
All money raised by the campaign will be used to support the Stendell/Rose family in Leana’s road to recovery.

Leana has been moved to the ICU department at Royal Perth Hospital. Her situation remains critical, yet stable. It is predicted she will remain in ICU for a month or more. Leana’s sedative medication has been reduced and she is having wakeful periods and communicating - a very positive step towards her long road to recovery.
Visitations to Leana are extremely limited and only family are permitted to visit for very short periods.
