About a month ago, some of us received some of the most hardest news we've ever dealt with.
What started as a sore shoulder back in March, progressed to an ER trip that resulted in our dear Leah being diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer that has metastasized to her bones.
She is a mother to two beautiful children, Lacey Jane who is 4 and John Paul who is 2. She has a beautiful home in New Argyle that she has put so much labour and love into, and a career at the CRA.
And a week before her 35th birthday she was told this news that destabilized her life in so many ways.
Leah is not only very intelligent and kind to a fault, she steps into the role of mother, daughter, niece, granddaughter, friend and for some of us, a sister by heart, with such ease. She's shows up everyday, for everyone in her life in such a powerful way, so it's time for her people to show up for her.
At this time Leah's disease has progressed quickly which has led to her being off work. She has started treatments at the PEI Cancer Centre and has a team of doctors with a plan to get her through this.
Unfortunately however, cancer doesn't pay the bills and expenses that come with its diagnosis and this is where her community and circle of love can help.
If you can donate any amount here to help get her through this difficult time as she fights to stay in her kids lives, I know she would be forever grateful. If you don't have any spare cash, please share to those around you to help us help her.
There will also be a benefit dance taking place sometime in September and we encourage you to stay tuned for details surrounding that and how you can support her that way.
And of course, please keep Leah in your thoughts and prayers as she battles this courageous journey. She is a fighter and we cannot wait to celebrate her on the other side of this when she beats this thing.
