On Friday, May 29, 2026, Michelle and Brad’s 16-year-old daughter, Hadley, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and was immediately admitted to Advocate Lutheran General Children’s Hospital to begin treatment. She began her first round of chemotherapy on Wednesday, June 3rd, and treatment will last well over a year.

Many of the things Hadley was looking forward to were immediately put on hold: a senior trip to Europe, her senior golf season, and homecoming. In addition to this, Michelle is working while serving as Hadley's caretaker. Hadley's intense and time-consuming schedule will require Michelle to miss a significant amount of work as both a teacher and a coach.

Now that Hadley has completed two rounds of chemotherapy and is preparing for her bone marrow transplant in the beginning of October, the family expects to spend at least the next six months living in Milwaukee while Hadley undergoes her transplant and recovers. We hope your continued support through this GoFundMe will help ease the burden of travel back and forth to and from Illinois, Milwaukee housing, meals, medical expenses, as well as fulfill a few items on Hadley’s wishlist during her courageous fight.

For those of you who know Michelle Lawrenz, whether it be as a teacher, coach, co-worker, or friend, you know that she is one of the most generous people you know. She is the first to step up and offer a helping hand or a shoulder to cry on, and now she and her family need us.
