Love for Lauren: Supporting a Mother’s Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
Just before Christmas, my ex-wife Lauren received life-altering news: she was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. This diagnosis came during what should have been another happy time of her life, as Lauren is 20 weeks pregnant with her third child. Lauren is a devoted mother to our two sons, Theo (8) and Ari (5). The holidays brought more than cheer; they brought the realization of an immense battle ahead for Lauren.
Lauren’s journey for treatment began in Evansville but quickly shifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, where she can access the specialized care her condition requires. Over the coming months, Lauren will undergo chemotherapy every two weeks, traveling to Nashville for three days at a time. At 37 weeks of pregnancy, she will be induced to deliver her baby safely. Afterward, Lauren’s treatment will intensify, including additional chemotherapy, radiation, and eventually surgery to remove the cancer. Her strength and resilience are inspiring, but the road ahead will be challenging for her and her family.
Due to Lauren's treatment plan and need to care for her growing family, she will be out of work for much of the year.
Estimated Expenses include:
- $7,000 - Medical Costs: Estimated at $7,000 out of pocket.
- $1,600 - Travel Costs: Bi-weekly trips to Nashville (3-hour drive each way) through July, totaling around $1,600 for fuel.
- $2,880 - Meals: Two meals per day during three-day stays in Nashville (breakfast is included at the hotel), estimated at $80/day, totaling $2,880 through July.
- ?? - Other Costs: Hotels are thankfully being covered by her parent's points (thanks Randy & Jennifer!). Since chemotherapy is outpatient, she'll be sent to the hotel with a chemo pump.
Your support can help ease this financial burden, allowing Lauren to focus on her health. Every donation, prayer, and share makes a difference in this fight.
Thank you for being part of showing "Love for Lauren."
