Dear GoFundMe Angels:
My name is Lenore and I am starting this campaign to raise much needed funds for my friend, Krystal Tompkins. Out of all the medical professionals, it is the bedside Nurse who spends the most time providing not only medical attention but compassion and comfort as well. Some would call them heroes, others may call them angels. Krystal is a Nurse who is both. Krystal has been a RN in the Surgical ICU at Albany Medical Center for over 18 years. She has taken care of the most acutely ill patients who have suffered terrible trauma, strokes or severe complications from surgery. She has been a strong advocate not only for those in her care but for their families as well. She has been a mentor to her fellow co-workers from support staff to doctors. She has been a source of strength, optimism and levity in often difficult and stressful times. She is the best example of what a Nurse is supposed to be.
Unfortunately, Krystal was diagnosed with breast cancer a year and a half ago. Although she has fought valiantly the cancer spread to her liver and is now in her bones and lungs. Up until two weeks ago Krystal has continued to work, even though it has been painful to do so, because she takes so much pride and joy in her job. With the progression of her disease she is now no longer able to work so her income is gone and soon so will her health insurance. However, her medical expenses for chemotherapy and supportive care continue. In order to support her with continued treatment expenses we are humbly asking you to please help us by making a donation. No matter how small, every dollar donated is enormously appreciated! We thank you for your support and wish an abundance of GOOD HEALTH for you and your family ALWAYS!
Sincerely,
Lenore and fellow RNs for Krystal
