Love for Kane the Noni Man

On Friday, May 14th after the Mike Love show at Uncle Roberts, our dear friend KaneAlii was attacked. He was knocked to the ground, got a head and neck injury and lost half his teeth. He is in intensive care at Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu with a spinal injury and currently unable to move his entire body from the neck down and is experiencing tremendous pain -- any slight touch makes him flinch.
Folks have been asking what happened, and while we are still piecing it together, what's clear is that Kane was blind-sighted by the attack. He was not in a fight; there was an angry and aggressive drunk man who pushed one person and then punched Kane. No one was expecting it.
Kane's friend has been visiting him and said this: "He is one of the most resilient people I know. His beautiful heart and his will to serve are his superpowers. I was able to share with Kane the story of what happened and the first thing Kane did was close his eyes and say to the guy who hit him, "I forgive you, I forgive you, I forgive you my brother." It was such deep compassion to witness and Kane has a lot to teach the rest of us."
Kane is known throughout Puna and Oahu as the Noni Man and for being generous with his medicine, healing touch and loving nature. He is in service to noni and to the community -- always connecting people together for the greater mission of healing.
He is loved so deeply by a number of Elder healers in this community -- Aunty Hoku, Aunty Tarika, Uncle Herbert and many others. They ask you for your prayers, funds and any other support you can offer.
Once he is out of the hospital he will not be able to work or share and sell Noni for some time so we are gathering these funds to help with basic costs and teeth replacement. We will keep you updated about his other needs like housing in Oahu or Puna and any therapies that might facilitate his healing.
