Hello Beautiful People !!!

Please consider donating. if new to the party, read ORIGINAL STORY in post

She has no steady source of monthly income right now. We’ve looked into every possibility.

*Can’t afford to give? You can still help.!!! We strongly encourage you to take a minute the next couple of days and share with your communities. Intimate that a dear and worthy human has been suffering greatly.
We recommend the old chestnut: “For the price of a coffee… even as small as:  if you can get 5 folks to give $5 each…. ( you get the idea ) that's 20 bucks.   we can help keep her in her home. “pass a can around” and ask the first 5 people you meet for $5.

It can greatly impact our beautiful friend’s outcome.

Again, every little bit helps.

ORIGINAL STORY: Our beloved friend and neighbor Juju was diagnosed with advanced stage cancer last year. Indeed the disease was present, doctors estimate, 2 years prior to being diagnosed. She began intensive treatment a year ago. So, she has been living with metastasized cancer for a total of 3 years now, and cancer for …who knows? at least 5 years all told. In ignorance. It’s an unpredictable disease, and an unpredictable and not guaranteed treatment then recovery process. She has faced an uphill battle, was out of work for quite a while, and then, just when she was gearing up for a new start, she got hit by the 500-pound anvil of a cancer diagnosis. It is an advanced stage and metastatic (means it got aggressive and spread). Her chest was full of tumours.  The big, major one, got as big as a lemon, in her armpit area.

please know that every bit adds up to a community holding Juju up and showing her love when she needs it most. It really will make a difference for her.

Many thanks!
Blessings, Friends of Juju

ANSWERS to FAQ:

Juju is a single woman without any safety net, currently living alone  in a 3 flight walkup.  We’re all she’s got.
(God bless rent-control.)

What the H***? I thought she was doing better and getting well? What Happened?:     Yeah, we agree. See above about Cancer and unpredictability. We're all , J especially, deeply upset and frustrated at these setbacks after she was gaining traction and had momentum... She has recently learned that recovery will be for years, and that she should concentrate NOT on getting back to her old self, but instead discover her new "normal".

Why doesn’t she get benefit aid?: She was a freelancer when she fell ill, struggled to make ends meet as she embarked on trying to figure out what was wrong and get properly diagnosed. As a freelancer she is/was classified as self-employed and therefore is disqualified from unemployment benefits, sick leave, or social security.

There is no monetary/cash/income aid or non-profit providing such for general cancer and specifically melanoma patients. (as far as we’ve been informed. And we’ve exhausted searches and resources) (fyi, there are for other specific cancers, especially breast )

She has been discouraged from applying for temporary disability, which takes 3-6 months to process a 50 page application and told “many if not most applications are turned down 1st attempt”

Thank You.
