My dear friend is one of the most wonderful people you will ever meet — the kind of man who would truly give you the shirt off his back without a second thought. His heart is big, warm, and full of kindness, and anyone who knows him can tell you that.
In 2022, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and since then his life has been turned upside down. Between radiation treatments, medications, and constant pain, he was eventually forced to stop working last year at UC Merced YWDC, where many of you may know him as the man who makes the famous clam chowder in the dining hall. He also brings so much joy every year to the Santa Cruz clam chowder competition with his team, proudly named “ALL CLAMS MATTER.”
For a long time, he refused any kind of help — even when he was placed on medical leave and struggling. He didn’t want assistance, and he definitely didn’t want a GoFundMe. But after three long years of fighting this disease, the financial burden has simply become too much. Medical bills, medications, living expenses, and the inability to work have all piled up, and now he and his family truly need help.
This man is a beautiful soul and an incredible cook, and he has spent his life taking care of others. Now it’s our turn to take care of him.
If you can find it in your heart to donate anything at all, it would mean the world to him and his family. Even the smallest contribution helps ease the weight they are carrying. Your kindness, support, and prayers are deeply appreciated.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
