I have a friend Dee that I have known since 1979. She was my hairdresser but more important a friend. She had surgery for a Aortic repair and the expected recovery was three weeks. She has been in the hospital since January 7,2019. 
She has lost kidney function and gets dialysis three time a week, has a trach and a feeding tube. I talked to her today and needless to say she is not the same and is worried about loosing her home. She worked hard all of her life and has never asked for help.
She lost her Veteran husband to pancreatic cancer over 20 years ago and she loves the Son they have. 
When I worked at the VA we had a Stand down for the homeless veterans and I asked my friend to give haircuts and shaves to the homeless veterans and she gave her time year after year and never asked for anything in return.
