In the early morning of July 28, 2019, Elizabeth Lagran lost two family members that she loved the most. Elizabeth received a call from her relatives in Quezon City, Philippines stating that her almost 80 -year old disabled mother, Mrs. Emma Canlas, and her 38-year old Sister Apol (Sheena Canlas) were trapped in a house fire, killing her mother instantly while her sister died at the hospital with 3rd degree burns. The fire started from their condominium neighbor's unit and it was suspected that it started from a lit candle. There were 3 individuals in the Canlas unit during the fire: her mother, sister, and brother. Elizabeth's brother, Oliver, jumped out from their unit at the 3rd floor as soon as he realized there was fire in the house. He was in critical condition and later became stable at the hospital.
This is the video of the incident taken from TV Patrol Manila:
Elizabeth, a widow who resides in Concord, California, has been financially helping her mother and sister in the Philippines. She has been saving up for her mother's upcoming 80th birthday in August. Although there was a health scare with her mother just last month, Elizabeth thought she would have to fly to Manila to see her mother soon. Fortunately, her mother's health condition improved ; thus, she decided to postpone her flight until her mother's birthday. Her mother had started having some illnesses and recently became unable to walk. Her sister then decided to quit her job as a nurse to focus on caring for their mother. And now, both of them are gone...
Elizabeth is a dear friend, a devoted Christian, a choir member of the Church of Christ, a hard worker, very friendly, willing to help anyone in need, and a beautiful soul. When her husband was still alive, they fostered 3 siblings in the Bay Area. Unfortunately, she lost her husband to cancer about 11 years ago and had been pulling strength to go on with her life from her family, especially her Mom and Sheena. She's been helping her family in the Philippines for many years and now she needs help to put things in order and lay her loved ones to rest. Her family lost everything in the fire and her mother will have to be mummified. Any financial help that you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
