My dear friend Adella Russell Gordon has been one of my closest friends for 30 years. There were seasons where distance, careers, & life kept us apart, but some friendships are untouched by time. Whenever we reunited, there was never a missed beat — only the feeling of home, comfort, laughter, & the reminder of why certain souls remain connected no matter how much time passes. This past weekend, I sat beside her helping care for her through another round of chemotherapy in her second battle with cancer, & it reminded me again how precious these moments together truly are. I am also a nurse, & I say this with both professional knowledge & a broken heart: the toll this treatment is taking on her body is devastating. The exhaustion, pain, weakness, & decline are no longer just side effects — they are now her daily reality. Yet even through all of this, Adella continues to lead with gratitude, kindness, & strength.

Cancer has already taken so much from her & her family emotionally, physically, & financially. Her husband & children have stood beside her through treatments, sleepless nights, fear, & uncertainty. Adella hopes to pursue a more integrative approach to her care alongside continued medical treatment, including nutritional, holistic, wellness-focused, & supportive therapies not covered by insurance after years of overwhelming medical expenses. This is not about giving up. This is about giving Adella the dignity & freedom to choose how she wants to continue fighting for her life.

Anyone who truly knows Adella knows she is full of love, compassion, humor, & strength. She has spent her life caring for others, & now she needs others to help carry her through this difficult season.
