Love IS Everywhere. Help Mauibelle Rebuild

Donation protected
On August 8th, 2023, without receiving any warning or alert, Mauibelle's husband and son were forced to evacuate from their family home. They had only the time to take their cell phones, a file of important documents and the family cat before fleeing from the flames that ultimately consumed their home. Like so many families in Maui devastated by this fire - they have lost everything. Their home, the family car, and all of their worldly possessions are gone. Everything.

My name is Alicia aka Tidecharmers on Instagram and I am fortunate enough to be able to call Heather my best good friend. I learned late last night that Heather @Mauibelle lost her home in the fires that devastated Lahaina Town in Maui, Hawaii. I am hoping that we can come together as a community and share love and support with Heather and her family as they begin to navigate the process of rebuilding their home.

Like so many people - I fell in love with Maui through Heather's photos and videos on Instagram. Heather quietly helped me through my journey with breast cancer - offering solace in a time of personal chaos. She helped raise several thousand dollars for the Maui Food Bank during Covid19 and has helped so many others - quietly. Heather is someone who gives more than she has. She just has one of those hearts. Heather is Aloha.
And now her family needs our help. It is my greatest hope that we can come together and return the Love and Aloha that Mauibelle has shared with so many of us. I for one can not pass a heart-shaped rock on a beach without thinking of Mauibelle and her reminders that love is everything. Together we can show Heather that Love Truly IS Everywhere.

Mauibelle’s family has immediate needs for clothing, housing, travel expenses, transportation, personal items, food etc.  They do not have a place to put things so financial assistance is absolutely critical at this time. This fundraiser is to fill in the gaps between when and what insurance may cover and what it won't. I know from personal experience - that insurance only covers "so much" when homes are destroyed by fire. Typically only the cost of the mortgage - not the belongings, building permits, alternative housing while the home is being rebuilt, etc.etc. (Side note - check your insurance policies). Add to that the fact that Maui is an island, it is an island with a housing shortage before these fires and an island whose government couldn't even find a way to warn its citizens about the fire. So the process to rebuild may not be linear, just or easy.

Heather is here in California through the weekend. I will be taking her shopping to buy clothing for her family in Maui as well as the necessities of daily life. I hope to send her home with enough to get through to the next stage - whatever that may be. With your support - I am hoping we can send her home to Maui with the comfort of knowing that whatever comes next - she and her family will be ok and we are here for her and will stand next to her through this process. We are the Love that is Everywhere.

Mahalo for your support.
