Our documentary trailer shows the beginning of a new friendship that began 50 years after my brother’s death in the Vietnam War.

Henry “Hank” Chester Klinger was the first American casualty in 1970 during a cease-fire in the Vietnam War. We had just celebrated Hank's 20th birthday when he was sent to Vietnam. At only 8 1/2 years old, I was the youngest of his 11 siblings. His tragic death left a huge hole in our family and in our hearts. But after all these years, my spirit is lifted by finding my brother’s best Army friend, Barry Mogil (story within the video).

Both Hank and Barry had the unlucky draw of the draft, met at boot camp and immediately bonded. After basic training, they were sent to Vietnam together and put in the 196th Infantry Brigade, where they would forge an unforgettable friendship.

They would talk about how great it was going to be to come back from the war and meet each other’s families, hang out and experience each others different lives at home, far away from the horrors of war. Tragically, this daydream ended in the early morning hours of January 1, 1970, when Barry witnessed Hank’s death. As if the war itself weren’t already taking a toll, Barry’s life changed immediately in that moment, and he’s had to carry that unforgettable trauma with him for 50 years.

That is only the beginning of this story and our journey to emotional healing. This documentary is being produced to inspire more people to reach out beyond their fears of pain, and with hopes in doing so, find comfort and healing through the process. We owe this and more to the veterans who have served our country and those who are serving our country today, as well as those who love them.

Our current financial goal is to help us get to Vietnam by the first week in January of 2025 to shoot important scenes for the conclusion of this documentary.

Your donations will help us meet our goal and would finance the necessary crew, equipment, flights, visas, ground transportation, hotels, meals, pre-production, post-production, editing, a Vietnam fixer and everything else that goes along with production in a foreign country.

~ The story of Love, Barry transcends any war......any cultural boundaries....any tragedy....any loss.
