Twelve months after receiving the devastating news of stage three ovarian cancer, Mia's family celebrated the wonderful news that the cancer was in remission. Little did we know that the cancer would return with a vengeance.
To be honest, I do not really know how to share something like this, something so close to our family that I truly never thought would actually happen. This is devastating to our family to say the least. Mia has battled ovarian cancer for 3.5 years and given a big middle finger to the cancer the whole time. Not only winning the battle once, but also showing cancer it would never take her life no matter what it was doing to her physically. She ran races, did crossfit, became a stayed at home mom, became a travel agent and made memories with her family that we all dream about. Mia came in to all our lives over 10 years ago and imagining life without her is a daunting task, although she is still fighting and unwilling to give up! Mia is the wife and mother everyone wishes they could be and everyone loves her fiercely. She has raised 4 amazing, beautiful children (Joshue, Briana, Baylee and Emma) and has made my brother a better man. She loves God and does everything she can to walk in His path and teach her children the same; I admire, and continue to strive to model her devotion.
Last week our family received the news we never wanted to hear; Mia's treatments no longer seemed to be working, the cancer has spread and metastasized to her liver. Mia's doctor has opted to stop treatment and just have her be as comfortable as possible during this time under home hospice care. We are reaching out to share Mia's story to raise awareness for ovarian cancer as Mia has done over the last few years and to ask for everyone's prayers. Please pray fervently for Mia's peace and comfort and any extended time we can be blessed with, and if you can help my nephew and nieces with future finances we would forever be grateful. Mia has not given up and is still exploring other potential treatment options. Mia has the heart, strength and fight of a lion. She continues to fight with an unprecedented passion. God Bless!
