Love and Support for Yuri's Leukemia Recovery

Yuri went to Japan the day after Christmas to celebrate the New Year with her family. Yuri's best friend convinced her to go in for a complete comprehensive physical test due to the affordability and thoroughness of this service in Japan. They are both in their early 40s and thought it would be a fun “date.”
On January 8th, during the physical, they took a blood test and found that Yuri had a heightened white blood cell count. Just like that, within only a few hours, they had diagnosed Yuri with Leukemia — blood cancer. Silas and Yuri spent the next 3 days in the cancer center in Japan, doing tests and talking with doctors. After a whirlwind of information and many hours of difficult conversations, they decided to fly back to Portland to receive treatment at OHSU. They are fortunate that they discovered her Leukemia in an early stage before she exhibited very many of the conditions.
Yuri was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Yuri started induction chemotherapy treatment on January 23rd. She took one week of chemo infusion and lived in the hospital for around a month. With people’s love and support and Yuri’s positive, strong focus, she did really well with the treatment and came home on February 16th. She is now done with induction chemotherapy and soon has to go back to the hospital to start intensive consolidation chemotherapy so that they can clean any “leftover” cancer cells so the Leukemia won’t return. She will continue 4 more rounds of this 30-day cycle of chemotherapy.
Yuri's care is our top priority. She is such a bright light whose love and friendship brings so many people joy and inspiration. Let's come together as a community to shine that love back on her. All money raised through this Go Fund Me will go into a tax-free Trust to be used exclusively for Yuri's health.
